A biography typically includes the person who was a prominent participant of significant events, or made unique statements or suggestions that were documented. Barbara Heck did not leave no written or personal notes. Even the proof of the date of her wedding was a secondary issue. The main documents used by Heck to describe the reasons behind her actions and motives are gone. Despite this, she is thought of as a hero throughout the story of Methodism. The biographer has to define the mythology, define the meaning and then describe the person that is revered in.

Abel Stevens, a Methodist historian in 1866, wrote about this. Barbara Heck's modest name now ranks top of the list of all women who have made a significant contribution to the ecclesiastical world throughout New World history. This was because of the rise of Methodism within the United States. In order to understand the significance of her name it is crucial to take a look at the extensive time history of the organization that she is and will continue to be associated. Barbara Heck's participation at the start of Methodism was an incredibly fortunate coincidence. Her fame can be attributed to the fact that a very effective organization or movement can glorify their origins, so that they can maintain connections to the past and remain rooted.
